Walk in the light, beautiful light
Come where the dewdrops of friendship shine bright…
shine in our hearts by day and by night…
we are the light of the world.
— song…composer unknown
Peace is all around us —
in the world and in nature-
and within us —
in our bodies, and our spirits.
Once we learn to touch this peace,
we will be healed.
—Thich Nhat Hanh
I hope this finds you all aglow, peaceful and healed!
A deep bow of gratitude to those members of the RI Community of Mindfulness from the Radiant Bell, East Side, Clear Path and Mind Tamers Sanghas who worked so hard to create a wonderful Day of Mindfulness for Families and Individuals today. It was the first one we have ever done with children! We had attendees from 6 months to 95 years old!!!! What a delight!
Special thanks to Janice Kissinger, who not only came up with the idea, but was also the organizer and registrar. She showed incredible equanimity in her ability to constantly respond to the changing conditions of the day. Special thanks also go to Eric Loucks, Shana Lieberman Klinger, Pam Steager. Linda Pietras, Maya and Azim Mazagonwalla for the wonderful job they did caring for the children. A special thanks also to Ellen Dessloch for all of her help with the food as well as creating a beautiful brochure for the day. And, of course a deep bow of gratitude to all those who attended and contributed their true presence…including our dear friends from Boston’s Old Path Sangha! It was a beautiful example of the Sangha working as one body….each cell doing a beautiful job to create conditions for a wonderful day together.
CLEAR HEART SANGHA UPDATES
JUNE 26 MEETING Those interested in taking part in the book group…focusing on the book, “Reconciliation” will be meeting at 3:30. At 4:30 we will share a vegetarian potluck and at 6 PM we will have a tea ceremony in honor of Sue and Roger Morgan…who will be moving to CA. Sue and Roger have contributed so much to our sangha. We will be offering our gratitude and the tea ceremony is an opportunity for us to offer a favorite poem, a song, a story, playing an instrument, etc. I hope that you will all be able to be with us to enjoy being joyfully together and give the Morgans a warm send off.
CHANGE OF SCHEDULE….We also had a lovely gathering of the Clear Heart Sangha last weekend,,,,and because the four folks who organize our first Sunday of the month meeting will all be away on the first Sunday of July…..we polled those in attendance and most were also not going to be available either …so it was decided that we would cancel the first Sunday meeting for July.
CHANGE OF VENUE…..We will have the second Sunday meeting, July 10, at Carol Robinson’s home in Harbor Island. More information about this will follow in the next email. We are need of someone to volunteer to organize that meeting….as well as a meeting place for the fourth Sunday meeting. If you can contribute in either way, Please let us know.
MIND TAMERS MEETING
This is a reminder that we will be meeting June 28 at 6:30 PM at St. Matthew’s Church in West Barrington, RI. I will share some practices from Thay’s book, “Reconciliation.
We will also sadly be giving a warm send-off to our dear friend George as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his life in France. We are so happy for George and his family and….we will miss him!

PEACE FLOAT INFO….. FROM LAURA
I just received a phone call from Leta Cain, who is central to the building of a peace float for the Bristol parade, to ask if anybody could help with the building of the globe (a globe of the earth with peace doves around it), which is going to be on the float. The actual putting together of the float will be on the 3rd. of July at one of the sites of Bristol Marine. Barry (of the Clear Heart sangha) is going to be playing his guitar on the float, and singers of peace songs will be part of the effort.
Would anyone volunteer to help with this?
They’re looking for a truck driver; contact for that is Kevin Faria at <firstname.lastname@example.org>, 401-595-7679.
Also contact Kevin if you are willing to be on the float (they’re looking for 3-4 volunteers), or willing to help build the float on the third. Each person on the float is is to wear red, white, and blue clothing.
Karen Santolupo has the globe in her garage at present, so contact her about times and what to bring if you can make it for the building of the globe. Her address is 36 Burton St., Bristol, and her tel.no. is 401-253-7865.
All of this is under the sponsorship of East Bay Citizens for Peace.
Thanks for considering this.
