Magnolias….What a Cosmos!

May all beings transform the hatred, anger and violence
in their consciousness
and be peace.

Dear Friends,
I hope you are all well and  watering some seeds of joy so as not to get consumed by the tragedies that have been occurring this week. We are sending all of our love and compassion to the victims of the violence and all those who are suffering. I hope we are taking good care of our consciousness so we can contribute peaceful, fearless energy to the collective.

We have 6 consciousnesses…the gates through which we experience the world…our five senses and our minds. We are the gate keepers. At times like this it is important to be mindful of what we are choosing to invite through those gates….a steady stream of terrible news….or learning the facts….opening our hearts with compassion for those who suffer…helping in any way that might open to be of help…and then watering the seeds of peace and joy in ourselves. We once had a Tai Chi teacher who would tell us….”once you have gotten the message, hang up the phone”…or turn off the TV!

We have just returned home from the Canada (where it was not quite springtime yet and we had an ice storm!)  and Springwater Retreats. It was wonderful to be with such lovely and sincere practitioners and it is lovely to be home!

This is just a reminder that we will be gathering this Sunday evening at 6 PM at our home in Matunuck. We will have sitting meditation and walk in the garden which is filled with daffodils (weather permitting). I will give a short talk and we will share the Dharma. I hope that you will be able to be with us and be peace in a world that is filled today with chaos and confusion.

Please remember that there is an Order member and Aspirant meeting on Saturday morning (tomorrow!) at the Bell Street Chapel at 10 o’clock. This will follow their Radiant Bell Sangha meeting from 8-10. If you are interested in learning more about our practice you are welcome to attend the meeting and the Radiant Bell Sangha invites all of us to sit with them before our meeting if we wish. I hope you will be able to join us.

There is still room at the Aldersgate Retreat to be held in N. Scituate, RI
This is being organized by the RI Community of Mindfulness and is a wonderful opportunity to come together and deepen our practice.

The first of the month meeting will be held at the UU church at the Lily Pads  on North Road in Peace Dale on May 5. Clare said that the decision for the book to focus on for the upcoming meetings will be made within the next ten days…so that books can be ordered before the next first Sunday meeting. The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching, Reconciliation, Zen Mind – Beginner’s Mind and No Death, No Fear. are some that have been suggested. I would like to also suggest “Answers from the Heart” transcripts of Thay’s question and answer sessions from various retreats. Those of you who attend the first of the month meeting, please let us know what you would like to focus on. You can reply to clare2sartori@gmail.com
You can water some seeds of joy with this inspirational video …truly amazing….skip the ad!
