7-27-13 Sangha Update
May our heart’s garden of awakening bloom with hundreds of flowers.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.
You are what you want to become. Why search anymore?
You are a wonderful manifestation.
The whole universe has come together to make your existence possible.
There is nothing that is not you.
The Kingdom of God, the Pure Land, nirvana and liberation are all you.
Thich Nhat Hanh
I hope this finds you taking the time to look deeply and appreciate the manifestation that is you and enjoying every minute!
We just spent three days at Sloan Kettering for testing….everything came back clear…so we are very appreciative, enjoying every moment feeling lots of gratitude for all of the metta you sent…it meant so much to me.
There will be a gathering of the Clear Heart Sangha tomorrow evening at 6 PM at the Van Horn home…directions below. (Robert wanted me to remind you that the street sign for Mallory Lane has been taken down…so don’t let that confuse you!) There will be sitting/walking/sitting…a talk, sharing the Dharma
and being joyfully together. I hope that you can make it.
SAVE THE DATE!!!! Saturday, August 10, from 10-11:30 the next Generations Sangha will meet at Westminster Unitarian Church on Kenyon Ave in East Greenwich. We had a lovely meeting last time, enjoying looking at our attachment to view and while the adults looked at ways to apply the practice to daily life, the children REALLY enjoyed a scavenger hunt! I hope you will be able to join us…and invite your friends with children to come along….as this meeting is for all generations!
SAVE ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!! Saturday, September 21, 11-3PM for the Annual Sangha Picnic at Colt State Park in Bristol. Good food, great people, fun games, songs, dances, etc, etc, etc. !!! Find the info at http://joannefriday.com/calendar/
PEACEWALK WITH THICH NHAT HANH in Boston. Sunday, Sept 15. It would be wonderful to be able to walk with Thay …if you would like to join us, Cindy West has generously offered to collect the contact info of those wanting to participate so we can organize rides, etc. If you want to take part, please contact Cindy at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thay will also be offering Days of Mindfulness and Public Talks, at Blue Cliff, Boston, and New York City. Some info is below…more info at tnhtour.org
In the category of “most unlikely” below you will find a letter from Sister Chan Khong about a film being made about Thich Nhat Hanh. Thay has been in films before…but this one is being made by the maker of very violent films…like”Mortal Kombat”!!! They are looking for help in finishing it up. If you feel moved to help that would be lovely…but whatever you do … you will be surprised at the video clip. Enjoy!
Speaking of enjoying…..I hope you are enjoying every moment and this beautiful cool weather we have been having.
with much love and a cool summer breeze for you,

REQUEST FOR SUPPORT FOR A MOVIE ABOUT THAY
Larry Kasanoff (the man that you can see on the link below)is a successful film maker but only of violent films. He is the producer of the film Mortal Kombat ... a very violent, but successful film, BEFORE meeting Thay. Now he wants to make a film on Mindfulness in the style of non-religious, non-buddhist, ONLY MINDFULNESS to connect with as many as possible non-believers, etc.
The two only main actors of Mindfulness are Thay Thich Nhat Hanh and from time-to-time me (Chan Khong). He put his own money six years ago, every time Thay and me came to Deer Park he filmed about 2 hours and is about to complete the film.
Until now he spent his own money (money to hire people to record Thay and me) and he said this film needs the last editing touches to be completed. As he has no way to raise some money, he asked us students of Thay to put this publicity in our Facebook or Youtube of Plum Village.I just send it to you for curiosity. I have no idea. Maybe you can feel inspired and want to give a few dollars. Here is the much anticipated link to the documentary, MINDFULNESS THE MOVIE. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/679036928/mindfulness-the-movie For my generation I see that this film is so funny. Thank you for having a look. For me it is really a funny film, beyond my expectations, such a contrast with film I used to see! Chan Khong
