From a lowly amaryllis bulb,
this incredible wisdom and energy manifests as
an amazingly beautiful flower.
From two little cells,
we do the same!
Around us, life bursts with miracles, a glass of water, a ray of sunshine,
a leaf, a caterpillar, a flower, laughter, raindrops.
If you live in awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere.
Each human being is a multiplicity of miracles.
Eyes that see thousands of colors, shapes, and forms;
ears that hear a bee flying or a thunderclap;
a brain that ponders a speck of dust as easily as the entire cosmos;
a heart that beats in rhythm with the heartbeat of all beings.
When we are tired and feel discouraged by life’s daily struggles,
we may not notice these miracles,
but they are always there.
Thich Nhat Hanh.
It’s a pity you don’t know
What the little flowers know.
They can’t face the cold November,
They can’t take the wind and snow:
They put their glories all behind them,
Bow their heads and let it go,
But you know they’ll be there shining
In the morning.

I hope you are feeling renewed and looking at ways to begin anew!
We can do that together tomorrow night. The Van Horns notified me that they are unable to host this Sunday, so we will be hosting the gathering at our home. We will be meeting at 6 PM at 725 Matunuck School House Rd. I hope that you will be able to be with us. We will enjoy a sitting meditation, look at what Thay teaches us about rebirth and renewal and we will be sharing the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be with us.
Here is a link to 4 videos on youtube about Thay and Plum Village. If you have not had a chance to be with Thay or to be at Plum Village, this really is a beautiful way to experience them. The short films are in Vietnamese, but have English subtitles on youtube. Enjoy!
The Aldersgate Retreat is now filled, but they are maintaining a waiting list. You can find the info at joannefriday.com/calendar
