A bouquet for you…
to see the cosmos in a single flower
and realize what a miracle
this lifetime is….
I hope you are all well and enjoying this day. We just got back from the hospital
in NYC on Friday evening. It’s been a bit of a mine field to navigate and continues to be, so this will be very brief and I would appreciate your continued prayers.
I wanted to let you know that there will be a gathering of the Sangha this evening at 6 PM at the UU Congregation of South County on North Rd in Peace Dale.
There will be sitting meditation, and a recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings, and there will be a sharing of the Dharma based on Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Creating True Peace. I hope you will be able to attend.
“If we are not calm, if we only listen to our hopes or our anger, we will not be able to receive the truth that is trying to reflect itself on our lake. We need to make our water still if we want to receive reality as it is. If you feel agitated, don’t do or say anything. Just breathe in and out until you are calm enough. Then ask your friend to repeat what he has said. This will avoid a lot of damage. Stillness is the foundation of understanding and insight. Stillness is strength.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
What I want to say is
that the past is the past, and the present is what your life is,
and you are capable
of choosing what that will be,
So come to the pond,
or the river of your imagination,
or the harbor of your longing,
and put your lips to the world.
I hope this finds you well and happy and finding the stillness in yourself this morning.
I wanted to thank all of you who were able to attend the Day of Mindfulness with us yesterday. It was lovely to be with so many sweet beings and have so many receive the Transmission of the Trainings.
A deep bow of gratitude for everyone who helped to create causes and conditions for so many to have a fruitful day. It is so beautiful to see how willing everyone was to work together. Thank you, Thank you.
There will be a gathering this evening at the home of the Van Horns. (directions below) at 6 PM There will be sitting/walking/sitting and sharing the Dharma.I hope you will be able to attend.
Also, we will be returning to our regular schedule for February. The first of the month Sunday will be held at the UU church in Peace Dale. The second Sunday will be at the home of the Wests and we will host the third Sunday at our home.
I hope you will be able to join us for all of the above!
Our dear friend, Cindy’s father was taken to the hospital yesterday and will be undergoing bypass surgery tomorrow. Please hold Cindy, her father, David, and their family in your prayers. You might send a note to her at email@example.com
I am also requesting some prayers for Monday as I will be having knee surgery.

OPPORTUNITY TO HELP
Sister Peace, whom some of you know, and Br. Phap Lai and Sr. Chan Khong are asking for our help for Annie Nushann a very dear friend of Plum village and an amazing woman, who is in need of life-saving medical intervention. . ” Annie is a powerful force in Liberia, who with little regard for her own life, has used her powerful gifts of right speech and compassionate action to help the people of Liberia rebuild their lives. I have included Sr. Peace’s letter which has a link to a wonderful video about Annie. Please help if you are able.
WATERING SEEDS OF JOY
The embodiment of equanimity…being peace. may we all ride the waves of change so serenely!
then, of course…a great way to start your day….a reminder that we are better together – let’s dance!
with much love and gratitude for every one of you,
LETTER FROM PLUM VILLAGE
Dear Beloved Friends,
It is with great hope that I write this email to you.
I’ll get right to the point as time is of the essence. Annie Nushann, a dearly loved, trusted and respected friend of Plum Village is in need of our help. As you will see at this Go Fund me link, Annie is a powerful force in Liberia, who with little regard for her own life, has used her powerful gifts of right speech and compassionate action to help the people of Liberia rebuild their lives – especially the women and children, to among other things be housed, schooled and get training for work.
Annie is a true warrior of peace, who continues fearlessly and steadfastly to lead every community within her reach towards healing from Liberia’s decades old devastation of war.
Annie needs our help to get urgent healthcare her still war-torn ravished country is unable to provide. Healthcare we take for granted. Without it, Annie’s life is at risk. With your generosity, Annie can live. And as Sr. Chan Khong says, “Such a precious woman needs to be manifested strongly for a longer time among us.”
I invite you to meet Annie and let her speak to your heart. Please invest 3:57 minutes to view this video and learn about a true peace warrior. Then donate to help save her life.
